Cambodia Ministry

Cambodia

The Kingdom of Cambodia (formerly known as Khmer), borders Thailand to the west and northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east and southeast, and faces the Gulf of Thailand to the south. The capital is Phnom Penh, with the country’s population of approximately 17 million (2024).

Cambodia is a rebuilding country after war. Over ninety-five percent of its population practices Buddhism, the state religion, creating a significant need for the gospel. Under the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s, nearly all young people and intellectuals were vanished, causing indelible pain for Cambodians. Alliance Global Serve (AGS) has been involved in various life reconstruction projects for years in both urban and rural areas of Cambodia, including establishing churches to care for communities and building schools to nurture children.

In recent years, despite Cambodia’s rapid economic development, more than forty percent of the population still lives in multidimensional poverty according to the United Nations. The issue of children dropping out of school is severe, with only one in five children completing junior high school. Through poverty alleviation and holistic community development in Cambodia, AGS is fulfilling the Great Commission by “sharing the Life-transforming Good News of Jesus Christ to All Peoples and Build up Christian Communities in All Nations.”

Education and Poverty Alleviation

In 2007, AGS opened Bahuy AGS Primary School in Pailin Province near the Thai border that was filled with land mines.  It currently has a total of 180 students.  Along with the 100 junior high students following the completion of the junior high school building construction of Bright Pailin School in 2022,

AGS is currently supporting nearly 300 students. In addition, we offer English tutoring and computer classes, and provide monthly financial assistance for students from kindergarten through university. By caring for their educational and financial needs, we can be truly walking alongside Cambodian students and growing together with them.

First Fruit

Since we began ministering to university students in Phnom Penh in 2018, we are now tasting some encouraging results. Three graduates from the Pailin Bahuy AGS Primary School have returned to Pailin after their university graduation to serve at the Bright Pailin School, taking on roles in administration and education. On the church development side, the Pailin Bahuy Lighthouse Church has been established for over two years. In 2023, four new believers were baptized and joined the church, with an average attendance of forty people at various church activities.

Our Ministries Updates

Bright Pailin School

In 2023, we celebrated the opening of the Bright Pailin School’s junior high building, and God has blessed us with an overwhelming response—today, more than 150 students are learning and growing in this new space. Looking ahead, we anticipate that by 2026 every classroom will be filled to capacity. With the exciting launch of our high school and life-skills curriculum, the need for additional classrooms and facilities has become even more urgent.

By God’s gracious provision and faithfulness—and through the generous partnership of friends like you—the construction of a new high school building began in mid-2024. We are thrilled to share that the project is now approaching completion! On November 26, 2026, we will dedicate this new building to the Lord, trusting it will serve generations of Junior and Senior High students, equipping them with both knowledge and life skills to impact their communities.

Thanks be to God! By His grace and guidance, Phase 2 has finally been completed.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers, especially for God’s provision in the financial support of our education ministry. Your partnership in prayer and giving enables us to nurture and equip the next generation through Christ-centered education.

New Center in Ratanakiri

In Ratanakiri, God has opened a unique door for ministry through English education. Our team has been granted the opportunity to teach English in a local high school—an uncommon privilege in this province. This not only allows us to equip students with valuable skills for their future, but also creates meaningful connections and relationships with young people who are eager to learn. Through these relationships, we can share Christ’s love in practical ways, model integrity and care, and plant seeds in the next generation. Please pray with us as we walk through this God-given opportunity.
